Psssssssssst! Look what AR Realtor's are saying about Home Staging and Home Stager's!!!!!

This morning I woke up to find an AR Featured Post by Kathy McGraw, California whom I had the pleasure of working with by home staging her listing in Banning, CA.

Kathy's post Tuesday Truths- Do you really trust other Real Estate Professionals?  is a must read about working with and learning from other RE Professionals...and in this case through ActiveRain.

"Professional Respect and Working Together for the common goal of helping the client......Yes 3 Active Rain Members Working together." - Kathy McGraw, Realtor

How sweet is that!!!!! :)

I was humbled and excited by this post and comments from Realtors about Home Staging.  Here are a few comments from Kathy's post of what AR Realtors are saying about Home Staging & Home Stager's.

"It is part of all my listing presentation.  I give a $350.00 staging credit..." Tatyana Sturm, Colorado

"I'm a big proponent of staging and the concept was foreign to me before I joined AR."  Jason Sardi, Pennsylvania

"......oh the art of delegating and relying on expertise!"  Lisa Moras, Vancouver

"If you can help a potential buyer visualize a property, I think you are helping him/her."  Huiting Zhuang, Rhode Island

"I'm so glad you listened as I know by looking at the photo's it will help the house sell." Missy Caulk, Michigan

"The folks who resist will have to wait longer to sell the home in an already over saturated market!"  Russell Lewis, Texas

"When I want something done, I just make sure she (home stager) mentions it to the seller.  Teamwork!"  Audrey June-Forshey, Maryland

"Good for you to recognize your initial resistance and move past it." Lynn Johnson, Minnesota

"one thing that, to me, is non-negotiable is a staging appointment (we love Val Allocco)."  Laurie Mindnich, New York

"I love your idea of getting a stager to tell them. Maybe they'll take it better from someone else."  Linda Jandura, North Carolina

"Selling the value of staging presents it's own challenges however I believe it is part of our duty as trusted advisers..."  Kathleen Daniels, California

"I have always wondered about staging and am in the process of bringing in a local stager to do a roundtable"  Roy Paeth, Illinois

"It makes a huge difference not only in how the house looks on showings, but how the house looks in those all important online photos..." Jennifer Mallory, New York

"a great testimony to active/rain, blogging and staging" Kathy Clulow, Ontario

I hope you enjoy these comments as much as I did.  Home Staging is getting recognized more and more through the help of ActiveRain, TV Shows, Education....etc.  What really impressed me was that Kathy learned about Home Staging because of ActiveRain.  Yahhhhh!   Thank You AR for helping to spread the word about the power of networking and home staging!

Hey New Yawk Sista!

Great post!  You are so right about the increased use of Home Staging by realtors and our Active Rain Realtors really DO 'get it' I think!

As annoying and unrealistic as some of the HGTV shows can be (e.g. low budgets with a really BIG bang for 'the buck' not to mention the team of contractors who do all the work 'gratis'!), the good news is that they (HGTV) have raised the 'collective consciousness' of most people in our country.  I would say that so many more sellers now understand that houses cannot only benefit from professional staging, but also that it is almost a necessity in order to sell a house in today's market.

I don't know about you, but I get a secret thrill when I hear sellers go on and on about how they know that they have to 'do this' or 'do that' because they've seen it on HGTV!  It totally makes it easier on us when the client is open and receptive and understands that what we do is the 'norm' for selling a house in 2008.

BTW - I also got a 'secret thrill' to see that lovely quote from Laurie Mindich (Laurie Mindnich, New York who, by the way, is one AWESOME realtor - talk about 'thinking outside the box'!  She and Sean are marketing geniuses when it comes to selling houses!).

Hey Janice - It's always nice to see that more and more Realtors are understanding the need for home stagers.  Thanks for posting this for all to see.

Chris - Your welcome!  I had a feeling Kathy's post wouldn't be seen by many Home Stager's since it wasn't posted in SIF.  I am always happy to spread the word that Home Staging Works!

Julia - Thank you!  I am also thrilled that Realtors are getting the message!

Kristina - Yup we need all the encouragement we can get! That's the best having allies...being a part of RE Teams.  A win-win!

Connie - Girlfriend I have to tell you Kathy's post made my day...week...heck maybe even year!

Sista Val - AR Realtor's really do get it!  Thanks to all the wonderful educational posts by you, my colleagues here on AR, Newspaper articles and TV Shows people are understanding the importance of preparing properties for sale.

Glad you got a "secret thrill" from your REA/Client!  They are lucky to partner with you!!!!

Debbie- Your welcome!  How often do we blog about our home staging successes only to recieve comments from our fellow home stager's?  Don't get me wrong I LOVE getting comments from my AR Home Stager's........it is just nice to see Realtor's  commenting about the importance of Home Staging and Home Stager's! Yah!

Charles- Awwwww...I appreciate that!  Likewise, if I ever need an REA or referral for Charlottesville I know who to calll!

Janice, What a great post and I loved the way you took the wonderful comments about the benefits of Home Staging.  I know Realtors DO get it and I really believe if the market hadn't turned it would be a standard part of the selling process now.  Unfortunately some people just don't realize (YET) the benefit of spending a few dollars to get that home SOLD.

Janice,

What a great and positive post!  It is nice to see that realtors are understanding about the Power of Professional Home Staging!  Won't it be nice when all realtors are educated to the importance of staging their listings?

Janice- I left you a comment on my Post, but wanted to come here also......thank you again for the great job that you did.  I had to change all my Internet Marketing Photos, but I sure like the newer ones better than the other ones.  Now the home looks warm and inviting versus just a nice house.  Yes, I too was pleasantly surprised at the comments on Staging. Remember any time something changes it takes a while for people to catch up :)

Oh and what is HGTV......sorry but I really don't watch TV :)

Hi Janice, oh I love my Google Alerts, thanks for the juice. Staging rocks, and helps sell houses.

Carole- Thank you..I appreciated your kind words!

I totally agree with you that Realtor's "DO get it" now. :) Unfortunately the current market situation hasn't helped Realtor's to "sell" the concept of Home Staging since Seller's believe they can't afford to stage.  Educating about the investment in Home Staging is the next step...instead of Price Reductions.

Michelle- Yaaaah! Whenever I get knocked down I will be sure to return to this post!  Ha! :)

Isn't it great to see such positive feedback about Home Staging!  I think Realtor's are understanding the importance of Home Staging.....they are just finding it hard to "sell" it because Sellers are upside down or barely profiting from a sale.  It is our job to educate Sellers on the importance of the investment in Home Staging. :)

Kathy - Your welcome!  Thank you for trusting me and allowing me to help you with your listing!

Great MLS pictures are so important in today's real estate market.  Home Buyer's are now looking online instead of visiting Open Houses!  The "warm and inviting vs. just a nice house"  is exactly what was needed for this vacant listing!

HGTV is a home & garden channel that has tons of great shows about home staging, do it yourself projects, gardening, home buying.....etc.  You're a Realtor and you love to garden....you should check it out!  But be careful you might get hooked!

Missy - Thanks for stopping by.  It is nice to see great Realtor's supporting and using Home Stager's!  Thank you...thank you...thank you!

Awwwww Google juice is cool!  Your welcome.  I never thought about adding my name to the Alerts...duh!  I have to go do that now!

Janice - A pictures is worth a thousand words ... Sometimes a client  just needs to see their homes from from a purchasers perspective in print.

Hi Janice,
I believe staging is here to stay though some areas (like mine) are very slow to embrace it.

Posted by Cynthia Tilghman, Realtor® Onslow County NC Home Specialist (Kingsbridge Realty, Inc) almost 9 years ago

Cynthia - I agree with you!  Staging will become a norm for the Real Estate Industry.  One day we will look back and say "Remember when we didn't stage homes...what were we thinking!"  :)

Janice - This is excellent news.. Congrats on getting to work with a realtor who "gets" it.. God bless, keep up the great work..

Wow, what great feedback for you. You will have to use this as part of your testimonial marketing!

I would love to have more realtors to work with. The feedback I get (through the Realtors that I do work with):

  • 'Wow she is great, I'm going to use her when I sell my house!'

HUH? Did I miss something? Why don't they use me for their listings?! They do use a stager...just not me. Any insight in to that?

Cheryl - Thank you!  I was very fortunate to work with a Realtor that understands the importance of Home Staging.

Dane - Thanks!  The feedback was overwhelming!  You're right...I need to get these testimonials on my website etc....

I too would also love to have more Realtor's to work with now.  I think we need to help educate the Realtors on how to present Home Staging on their listing appointments.  Better yet, I always suggest they bring me along as part of their team.  I have had great success when that happens!

<sigh>  We just need to keep knocking on the doors until they get it!
